The Direct Archdiocesan District Office of Education serves the District’s Greek Orthodox parochial day schools and the afternoon Greek language schools. It provides professional training for all teachers (of Greek and English curricula), guidelines and materials for teaching Greek as a second/foreign language, and the Comprehensive Examination in Modern Greek for the evaluation of student learning.
The Direct Archdiocesan District Office of Education represents the Greek Orthodox parochial day schools of New York to education authorities at the federal, state, and city levels. The participation of the director of the District Office at various conferences and committees, notably the Standing Committee of Religious and Independent Schools of New York City, has initiated contacts, which have helped provide the day schools with various funded services and resources. |
